Chinois at RWS, 1 altitude and then to Velvet. So many farewells and dinners these few weeks and I'm finally digesting the fact that I'm flying off so soon. Have been living in delusion these past few days with the boyfriend's company and refusing to pack my luggage. Last night was good and I'm very thankful for all the people around me and new friends I've made. Six months will fly and I'll see my tallboy again.

Happy New Year everyone! Spent NYE with Huiwen and her family(thanks for the invite!) at a countdown party at RWS. It was quite an experience and thinking about the food makes me hungry now.

2011 has treated me quite well, with lack of sleep and never ending projects... but I've learnt a lot and am quite happy with what I have now. Went Taiwan with C and his family, done better this semester compared to the other semesters, C orded and we spent more time together, went on flyer during my birthday, visited USS, caught up with my crazy poly mates, painted the house with mum(and both of us ended up exhausted with lots of cuts and injuries), tried eyelash perming and found out that kfc fried chicken+cheese tastes yummy. Oh! 2011 also made me realise that my temper is pretty bad. hehe.

Am sure I've done more than those listed above but I really can't remember at the moment. 2012 will be a better year and I really can't wait to graduate. Flying to NY in a few days time and am excited for whatever that's coming up. Will miss my C, mum, bro and friends very very very much though.

Professor Idzikowski also examined the effect of various sleeping positions on health. He concluded that the freefall position was good for digestion, while the starfish and soldier positions were more likely to lead to snoring and a bad night's sleep. Professor Idzikowski said: "Lying down flat means that stomach contents can more readily be worked back up into the mouth, while those who lie on their back may end up snoring and breathing less well during the night. "Both these postures may not necessarily awaken the sleeper but could cause a less refreshing night's sleep." The research also found that most people are unlikely to change their sleeping position. Just 5% said they sleep in a different position every night.

Duvet position

Professor Idzikowski also found that one arm or leg sticking out of the duvet is Britain's most common position, followed by both feet poking out the end. One in ten people like to cover themselves entirely with the duvet.

USS with secondary school mates, 2 hr queue for transformers(awesome btw), 45 min wait for human and 60 min for cyclon. Besides the queueing up being very frustrating, I had lots of fun being scared and screamed just like a baby who just got frightened by Shrek. Two 20" pizzas with lots of cheese and beer at Modesto. Didn't have enough stamina to scream a full scream on human.

Realised how beautiful Singapore is on my 22nd birthday. Bridesmaid on huge-ass screen, buffet dinner at Grand Park and my virgin oyster attempt. Slow ride in Singapore flyer with everyone in cabin busy snapping away. It's crazy looking at how much beauty is squeezed into a small city. I've been complaining about how this boring little red dot is for the longest time but the breathtaking view sure taught me how to appreciate all these a little more.

Singaporean women are materialistic

A new research has shown that Singaporean women are "significantly" more materialistic than their American peers. Published earlier this year, the study by Singapore Management University (SMU) psychology professor Norman Li surveyed about 400 psychology students aged between 19 and 21.

The local females polled an average of 3.98, compared to the American women's score of 3.74. The closer the score is to five, the more materialistic one is deemed to be. Survey findings also named a man's social status as the top criterion for Singaporean women when it comes to looking for a potential spouse, reported The Straits Times. Next on the list is kindness, followed by a lively personality. On the contrary, American women valued kindness the most, followed by looks, then a man's social standing.

While the study did not ask respondents for the reasons behind their answers, Professor Li said he is not surprised by the findings.

"Maybe Singaporean women are just being realistic. Here, you need a lot of money to survive and afford an affluent lifestyle. Maybe they are just being practical," said the 45-year-old American-born Chinese.

Those surveyed were students at SMU and the Northen Illinois University in the United States. They were surveyed on their attitudes towards marriage, children and preferences when it comes to choosing a partner.

"I think it is reasonable," said 22-year-old undergraduate from Nanyang Technological University, Valerie Fong.

"Social status is parallel to money, and having that is like a validation from other people. It makes you feel good because others will approve of you. That and social comparison too, I guess."

"It is not a must but if you happen to chance upon one, why not? If you get a choice, you can certainly place yourself in an environment," she added.

"I guess that's true when you're looking for a husband, financial stability is definitely important," agreed Lydia Chan, 27, sales associate.

"But at the end of the day, money is not going to guarantee you a happy marriage unless you're seeking materialistic gains," she warned.

Other women Yahoo! Singapore spoke to were quick to disagree.

"I'm afraid I'm still old fashioned and traditional, but personality and kindness come first for me," shared Sharon Lim, 23, HR officer.

Said Deborah Tan, 23, an undergraduate, "I don't think the study reflects female students as a whole and it is unfair if it does. I think we have moved past materialism. To me, it does not have any meaning other than superficiality and shallowness which is what girls don't want to be associated with."

Lim Yan Han, 22, also agreed that the results are not representative.

"This is not something new," said the final-year National University of Singapore psychology student. "The findings back up the evolution theory that says men look for attractive women while women look for successful men."

"But what's the use of having a spouse who's a high flyer at work but doesn't communicate with you and instead, cares only about himself or his work?"

Professor Li's research found no major differences when it comes to men's preferences, however. His findings showed that looks remain the most important trait in a spouse for both Singaporean and American men, before kindness and a lively personality.

"Men are wired to go for looks," he explained, adding that a woman's physical attractiveness is a visual cue for fertility. Features such as "soft skin, full-looking lips and colourful cheeks" are not just attractive, but also associated with youth, which indicates a woman's fertility. That is why men tend to go for younger women, he added.

Tumblr is really a much better place. Not for blogging or writing but it's kind of like a mega visual orgasm and every single box contains a particular dream and haha, infinite interpretations. We all look at dreams differently but that's the fun part, tumblr has everything.

I want to go far far away. To a place that is really unSingapore. Not that I don't like it here but... I think you get the gist. I want to get inked. Yeah maybe, but no. I want to party... sometimes. I want to play chalk hopscotch and drink raindrops. Perhaps be more useful than being a spendthrift. Perhaps visit Rome or Venice. Why do people wear heels when they put on a gown?

I want to be reminded that life isn't just like this. It's not just about self-conversations. It's not just about me. It's 4.50am so I'm probably not making any sense.

Finding God in the Park

So C picked me up from work on one of the days and we finally visited Everything with Fries!!! I don't know about him but I've been hearing so many people rave about the place?

C looked quite crazy here 'cuz of the colours. But it kind of suits how I was feeling the entire day. Very unreal.

Back from Taiwan. I enjoyed the break, away from the work and all the Singapore stress. This going back to reality is giving me the shivers.

Everything is pretty awesome, especially the shopping and of course, the food. My appetite is quite scary. Most of the food taste pretty darn good and it's so hard to stop eating.

It's so hard to get on track. The 'free' time that study week gives us is a terrible conspiracy to make us fat and poor.

We study at Starbucks, hoping to get some shit work done only to realize that we've just ordered a deep dish beef pie, new york cheese cake and a skinny latte. Seriously, how can a skinny latte save our arses when we've just ordered food that are about 2000 calories and erm, 20 bucks damage to our pockets.
